Zodiac Interactive announced today that the newest version of its PowerUp platform integrates mobile and Internet devices with cable set-top boxes.
PowerUp 2.5 is a free upgrade available to all existing PowerUp clients with current support agreements.
This new version uses advanced APIs that allow MSOs to establish and customize the communication between mobile and Internet-connected devices and the set-top box.
“The growth in mobile devices is igniting an explosion in mobile applications and changing consumer behavior, and we’re excited to be in a position to further that growth by enhancing the interaction between the TV/set-top and mobile devices,” said Zodiac’s President Mike Rivkin. “We realized that we needed to expose set-top boxes that run PowerUp to other devices in the home. Therefore, with PowerUp 2.5, we are extending its reach into consumer Internet and mobile devices.”
Zodiac plans to demonstrate PowerUp 2.5’s functionality for the first time at the upcoming National Cable & Telecommunications Association conference, The Cable Show, in Los Angeles May 11-13.
