It’s a wrap: Time Warner Cable completes NaviSite purchase

April 22, 2011 By Mike Robuck

Time Warner Cable announced yesterday that it had wrapped up its $230 million purchase of cloud vendor NaviSite.

With the closing of the deal, which was first announced in February, NaviSite now operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Time Warner Cable.

NaviSite brings its enterprise-class hosting, managed application, messaging and cloud services into Time Warner Cable’s growing commercial services division, Time Warner Cable Business Class. NaviSite’s assets include nine data centers in the United States and the United Kingdom, two of which are SAS 70 Type II certified data centers.

“Today, Time Warner Cable adds a successful managed services business, with an innovative managed cloud platform, to our already extensive business-to-business offerings,” said Glenn Britt, Time Warner Cable’s Chairman and CEO. “Business services continue to present significant growth opportunities for the company, and the addition of NaviSite strengthens our position in this area.”

During its January earnings report, Time Warner Cable said its fourth-quarter commercial services revenue was just under $300 million, which was a 23 percent increase over the same quarter in 2009, while full-year commercial revenue was more than $1.1 billion, up 21 percent versus 2009.

NaviSite President R. Brooks Borcherding will continue to serve in that role and will oversee NaviSite’s day-to-day operations. He will report to Gerry Campbell, executive vice president of business services at Time Warner Cable, and Carl Rossetti, executive vice president of Time Warner Cable and president of Time Warner Cable Ventures.

Last month, Time Warner Cable promoted Paul Lang to senior vice president of business services. Among Lang’s duties is the integration of NaviSite within Time Warner Cable.

NaviSite employs approximately 570 people worldwide and has network operations centers in Gurgaon, India and Andover, Mass.

A frequency you can count on There are few constants in life, but what few there are might include death, taxes, and a U.S. grid frequency that doesn’t vary by more than ±0.5 Hz. However, the certainty of the grid frequency is coming into question, thanks to the rising percentage of renewable energy sources that…
