Microchip Technology has introduced the LX-820 radiation-tolerant quartz oscillator for Low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites and other space applications. The device is available in a 3.2 × 2.5 mm surface-mount package, operates from −55°C to +125°C and provides ±100 ppm performance, with CMOS outputs from 1.25 to 135 MHz and LVDS outputs from 100 to 250 MHz. It has undergone total ionizing dose testing to 50 krad and single-event latchup testing to 40 MeV·cm²/mg.
