* Optimum Lightpath scores healthy WAN deal
Optimum Lightpath, the business services arm of Cablevision Systems Corp., has won a deal to engineer, build, install and maintain a new metro Ethernet wide area network for the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System.
The LIJ will use the resulting network to share data between hospitals and community-based physicians. The LIJ will also tap the system to support a clinical information system that will maintain patient medical records electronically.
The new IP-based, 10 Gbps network will replace LIJ’s existing ATM network.
* ADDvantage appoints new CFO
ADDvantage Technologies Group named Daniel E. O’Keefe to vice president, chief financial officer, chief accounting officer and secretary.
O’Keefe, 37, most recently was president of Interstate Express, a subsidiary of LinkAmerica Corp.
ADDvantage supplies products used to acquire, distribute, and protect the broad range of communications signals carried on fiber optic, coaxial cable and wireless distribution systems.
* SupportSoft CEO to retire; CFO named
SupportSoft Inc. said company CEO Radha R. Basu will retire as soon as a successor is hired. She will remain chairman of the company, which she has run since July of 1999. Basu said she intends to spend more time on charity work.
The company also confirmed acting CFO Ken Owyang as a permanent member of its management team. As senior vice president and chief financial officer, Owyang’s responsibilities will include finance, legal, investor relations, information technology, and human resources. Owyang has served as interim chief financial officer of SupportSoft since January 2006, and has served as vice president of finance since November 2004.
SupportSoft is a provider of real-time service management (RTSM) software designed to automatically resolve IT technical problems for enterprises and enable triple play service automation for VoIP, video or broadband delivery by service providers to their customers. SupportSoft solutions are used by Belgacom, BellSouth, Charter Communications, Comcast Communications, Cox Communications, Time Warner, TeliaSonera and UPC, among others.
