Anystream has acquired Cauldron Solutions. Terms of the deal were not offered. The two announced a formal business partnership in September, but decided even tighter integration could be beneficial.
Both have products used to schedule, manage, deliver and track media assets across multiple platforms. What Cauldron brought to the party was its On-Demand Workflow Manager, which provides media companies the ability to rapidly scale on-demand content offerings across multiple platforms in an automated process.
The two combined On-Demand Workflow Manager with Anystream’s Agility, a platform for automated media production, from ingest and transformation, to programmatic editing, transcoding and packaging for digital distribution.
On Demand Workflow Manager will be renamed Anystream Velocity.
Cauldron also has an interesting technology it calls the Entitlement Platform, a system that manages subscriber rights and licenses to content, which could prove to be very useful as the media industry moves toward networked storage and converged services that provide anywhere-anytime access to media.
Cauldron’s clients include Comcast, Cox Media, Cablevision Systems Corp. and the Rainbow Media Networks. Anystream has a varied clientele that includes Web sites, broadcast TV networks and universities.
