Arris today unveiled a pair of DOCSIS 3.1-enabled modems, the first customer premise equipment (CPE) the company has made to work with the standard.
The Touchstone CM8200, a dedicated cable modem for operators, can handle rates up to 5 Gbps downlink and 2 Gbps uplink.
The SURFboard SB8200, a retail cable modem, matches the performance of the CM8200 but also leverages the 32×8 QAM channel bonding capabilities of DOCSIS 3.0.
“We have a legacy of DOCSIS leadership—from our pioneering work in developing the standard itself to deploying DOCSIS- based network solutions around the world and delivering a full suite of compatible CPE to operators and retailers alike. Our new line of DOCSIS 3.1 devices extends our industry leadership, making Arris the obvious choice for future-proofing investments in cable networking and delivering on the full promise of gigabit,” Larry Robinson, president of Customer Premises Equipment at Arris, said in a statement.
Arris will be showing off both its new modems during this week’s SCTE Cable-Tec Expo at booth #551.
