BellSouth changed the structure of its bundle pricing, associating discounts not with specific services, but basing discounts instead on the number of services in its bundles.
Since discounts depend on subscribers taking minimum levels of service, the new pricing appears designed to encourage customers to take higher tiers of each service, or migrate up from lower tiers of service.
To get the discounts, subscribers must, for example, take BellSouth’s Ultra tier of DSL service or higher; the Cingular Wireless plan has to be priced at $39.99 a month or higher; and the DirecTV plan must be at least $44.99 a month.
Residential customers who bundle any two qualified services will receive a $5 monthly discount; customers who bundle any three qualified services will receive a $10 monthly discount; and customers who bundle all four qualified services will receive a $15 monthly discount.
BellSouth also redesigned its BellSouth Answers Web site, highlighting its most popular bundles in a simplified format. The site now features a savings calculator.
