BendBroadband will be the first to deploy Evolution Digital’s high-definition universal digital terminal adapters (uDTAs) in the U.S., the vendor announced.
Based in a ski town and tourist destination, BendBroadband will offer the HD uDTA device to bulk hospitality accounts such as hotels.
The devices themselves are based on RF remote control technology, so the set-top can be hidden away from view.
BendBroadband will supply its customers with self-install kits.
“It’s encouraging to see how the cost of technology has decreased through new providers like Evolution Digital entering the cable space,” stated BendBroadband director of marketing Mark Hobbs. “This device will give us a low-cost advantage when marketing our services to bulk accounts.”
The HD uDTA is nearly as small as a smartphone and one-fifth the cost of high-definition set-top boxes two years ago, Evolution Digital noted. The Evolution DTAs are “universal” inasmuch as they work on both Motorola and Cisco systems.
“Evolution Digital is excited to partner with a company like BendBroadband, known for their initiative to be the first to launch the industry’s latest advanced technology,” said Marc Cohen, executive vice president of sales for Evolution Digital.
