Today, there’s a smart toilet, so you can’t put it past product designers to make our stoic walls, complacent countertops, and swinging doors smart, too. That’s exactly what creators of Knocki have done.
Once Knocki attaches to your wall, piece of furniture, or really anything, you simply tap gestures anywhere on the Knocki-enabled surface to automate an action.
Let’s say you attach Knocki underneath your coffee table. By simply tapping on your table you can now turn on the TV, dim the lights, or turn on the heat. A few other uses for Knocki are activating a security alarm, receiving an alert when the mail arrives, finding your phone, and brewing coffee from bed.
Also, don’t think you need a smart home for this device to make its way into your house. Knocki works with a WiFi internet connection, and allows you to tap into many power functions, even if it is just an iPhone or Android. That said, if you already have a few smart appliances just “laying” around the house, you can expand what Knocki can do by connecting it to other smart devices.
Each Knocki includes a special mount featuring SurfaceLink technology to ensure a solid connection. Once you’ve mounted your device to a surface, it’s time to define unique gestures that trigger certain actions. For instance, one knock could lock the door, while two taps could turn off the lights.
Knocki also uses its non-acoustic sensor technology to detect surface gestures, but has the intelligence to filter out random vibrations, such as bumping knees at a busy breakfast table.
So, if you’re constantly losing the remote, searching for your phone, or too lazy to get out of bed in the morning, Knocki could help make your bedside walls an instant remote and phone finder, and brew your morning coffee with two simple taps to the wall.
