No one likes WiFi dead zones, but Arris says it’s got a solution. The company recently introduced its SURFboard family of home networking devices with RipCurrent G.hn technology, which it says “helps to finally solve the common and persistent problem of WiFi dead zones.”
The plug-and-play installation and iOS and Android apps reportedly allow set-up in just a few minutes. “And it gives you a new level of control over your network’s security, accessibility, and settings—as it helps you cover every corner of every room with lightning-fast, gigabit WiFi,” Arris states in a press release.
The company reports that the solution uses a home’s existing wiring to create new hotspots, connect high-bandwidth devices and relieve congestion on the wireless band. “By using wires to build a better WiFi network, the RipCurrent-enabled portfolio drastically improves wireless router performance, helps to completely eliminate dead zones and puts bandwidth hogs in their place,” Arris says.
Vast Broadband selected Scorecard Systems Subscriber Analysis Application (SAA), which reportedly enables the service provider to react quickly to market conditions, track the immediate impact of promotional campaigns and drive higher penetration of additional services to its customer base. Vast Broadband is an Internet, TV and phone provider serving South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota.
Scorecard Systems also was selected by GVTC Communications to deploy its SAA and Commission Manager solutions. GVTC offers high-speed Internet, digital cable TV, phone and home security monitoring to residential and business customers in far north San Antonio, the Texas Hill Country and South Central Texas.
Ripley Tools unveiled the Miller Brand SnC, an all-in-one tool designed for jacket stripping, optical fiber stripping and cutting of Kevlar strength members. The three-hole fiber stripper allows jacket removal from 1.6 to 3.0 mm cables. Two additional holes are available for stripping 900 micron tight buffer to 250 micron buffer coating and standard 125 micron fiber stripping (250 micron removal to 125 micron). The fiber stripper and Kevlar cutter slides out of the protective tool body when in use and slides back inside when not in use by activating the sliding tab located on each side of the tool.
