* TV Guide Channel networks with WilTel
WilTel Communications has secured a deal to create a managed media network platform for TV Guide Channel.
In partnership with its Vyvx subsidiary, WilTel will supply a Managed Ethernet Wide-area Network (EWAN) that will enable TV Guide Channel to connect its Tulsa, Okla., and Hollywood broadcast production facilities.
TV Guide Channel reaches about 80 million homes.
* Charter hires marketing muscle
Charter Communications has appointed Robert Quigley to the post of executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
Quigley is late of Quigley Consulting Group, and America Online, where he was its EVP, and served as COO of AOL’s consumer marketing division.
“Bob is a leading expert on all aspects of continuity and subscription-based businesses, having expanded acquisition channels and developed sophisticated analytical and modeling tools while at AOL,” said Charter President & CEO Neil Smit, in a statement.
* Rogers kicks off SVOD
Rogers Cable has launched subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) in New Brunswick with the introduction of The Movie Network On Demand.
Rogers is making the new service available to digital subs in Moncton, Fredericton, Bathurst, Edmundston, Miramichi, and Saint John. Available on channel 308, the service will offer about 70 titles on-demand to existing The Movie Network subscribers.
