* Eagle hires IPTV GM
Eagle Broadband has hired Brian Morrow to the newly-created position of general manager, IPTV solutions.
In that role, Morrow will spearhead the company’s core IPTVComplete and MediaPro IP set-top product lines. He joins Eagle from Analytical Surveys, a geographic information systems software and services firm, where he served as president and chief operating officer.
*Ciena revenues rise in Q4
Ciena Corp. posted fiscal Q4 revenues of $118.2 million, a 44 percent increase from a year earlier. Ciena also recorded a net loss of $252.9 million (44 cents per share), narrowed significantly from a net loss of $495.1 million (87 cents per share) a year earlier.
* Net2Phone rings in more revenue
Net2Phone posted revenue of $21.7 million, up 7 percent from $20.3 million in the year-ago quarter. The VoIP specialist also recorded a narrower net loss — $7.2 million versus $8.2 million a year ago.
In terms of revenue, about $1.5 million in the quarter came from partnerships with cable operators.
Net2Phone said it markets cable telephony services to more than 1.4 million homes, but at the end of the quarter, it was servicing about 57,000 broadband sub lines, either directly or through third parties, up 443 percent from 10,500 subs a year ago.
