* Symmetricom promotes Armstrong

Symmetricom today announced that James Armstrong has been promoted to executive vice president and general manager of the company’s Telecom Solutions Division. Armstrong joined Symmetricom in 2006 as vice president of engineering for the division.
Prior to joining Symmetricom, Armstrong was president of Movidis, a privately-held company that develops networking equipment for OEM and enterprise markets.
* Sunrise tester covers DSL triple play

Sunrise Telecom announced a test set for in-home wiring and triple play services on xDSL networks. The new MTT Triple Play Series can test the physical plant, in-home wiring and IP-based services (IPTV, video-on-demand (VOD), VoIP, and data) with a single test set. It is capable of assessment tests covering the voice to VDSL2 frequency range; as well as Fiber OTDR and power meter; and xDSL CPE Emulation, allowing the technician to verify achievable data rate, SNR Margin, and error counter metrics against Pass/Fail thresholds.
It also provides Home Phoneline Networking Alliance (HPNA) device emulation and IPTV set-top box emulation with MPEG video stream analysis, Voice and Data-over-IP test suite.
* Sonus offers new software release

Sonus Networks has announced a new release of its IP voice software platform. Sonus Release 7.1 includes features designed to help operators in Eastern Europe, Russia and Southeast Asia conform to requirements for local number portability and lawful intercept enhancements.
