• OpenTV to showcase video, advertising solutions at Cable Show

OpenTV Corp. will be showcasing its latest solutions at The Cable Show in New Orleans next week.
Video solutions to be showcased include push/pull video-on-demand (VOD), which enables operators to create a range of new possibilities for VOD service enablement; modular personal video recorder (PVR), which allows operators to cost-effectively deploy PVR services using low-cost, in-field upgrades for “a la carte” feature activation; and multi-format VOD, which takes VOD beyond the set-top box (STB) by enabling operators to distribute digital offerings that can include content created for multiple devices.
Advertising solutions to be showcased include OpenTV EclipsePlus, a next-generation campaign management solution; and OpenTV iAd Tools – OpenTV iAd Wizard, OpenTV iAd Manger and OpenTV Account – for developing, scheduling, airing and managing lead generation for interactive advertising.
• Zodiac wins tru2way Developers’ Showcase Challenge

Zodiac Interactive has won the tru2way Developers’ Showcase Challenge, which means that the company will present at the Developers’ Conference on both Saturday and Sunday during The Cable Show ’08 in New Orleans.
The Developers’ Showcase Challenge was developed by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) and is designed to attract Java developers for cable’s tru2way initiative.
The Developers’ Conference kicks off the show. Zodiac has also won the opportunity to showcase its tru2way applications in the CableNET Technology Showcase, held during show.
• Cisco names Kawale prez of Cisco Canada

Cisco has appointed Nitin Kawale as president of Cisco Canada. Kawale, who previously led Enterprise and Public Sector operations for Cisco Canada, is now responsible for all Canadian sales operations.
He replaces Terry Walsh, who is returning to his native Australia, where he will continue to work within the Cisco global organization, the company said.
Kawale’s previous Cisco roles include supporting global sales strategy and planning. As head of sales and operations for the Global Mobile Vertical team, Worldwide Service Provider Group, Kawale developed and executed the global industry-specific strategy for Cisco’s mobile business.
