* PBS taps chief content officer
PBS has named John Boland to the newly-created post of chief content officer. In that role, Boland will head up PBS strategies tied to new multi-platform distribution channels, including video-on-demand and the Internet.
Boland is presently the EVP and chief content officer of KQED Public Broadcasting, a San Francisco-based division that operates the PBS and NPR stations in Northern California. There, Boland heads up more than 150 TV and radio producers and programmers, editors, reporters, Web content developers and technical personnel.
Boland will start his new role with PBS in September and join the PBS staff in its Arlington, Va., headquarters.
* EGT appoints SVP of business development
EGT Inc. has hired Wilson Glover as senior vice president, responsible for leading the company’s business development and product marketing organizations.
Glover brings more than 27 years of sales, marketing and business development experience in the telecommunications, cable TV and broadcast markets to his new position at EGT. Most recently, he was the VP of broadband solutions North America at Pirelli, where he managed all business for optical and access technology and developed channel partners to support Pirelli solutions. Prior to Pirelli, Glover was at ADC Telecommunications.
* Radiant Comm. names southeast regional sales manager
Radiant Communications, a manufacturer of IP solutions and optical fiber transport, has hired Larry Roper as southeast regional sales manager.
Roper is a cable industry veteran, with 18 years of sales and marketing experience at Alpha Technologies, Antec (now part of ARRIS), and Cable Products Inc. He is co-author of a patent for a generator interface service entrance for backup power supplies.
