• Corning to intro OptiSnap Connector at Expo
By Traci Patterson
Corning Cable Systems has introduced the OptiSnap Connector, a field-installable no-epoxy, no-polish connector that enables the quick and cost-effective termination of fiber optic cables in cable deployments.
The offering installs in less than one minute through the use of Corning’s mechanical splice technology. It is ideal for single-mode applications, such as fiber-to-the-business (FTTB), where installation setup and teardown time is critical. The installation system also features an on-tool patented go/no-go feedback signal to confirm that installation is performed correctly every time, the company said, and when the fiber is inserted and the cam activated, a pass/fail light on the installation tool signals that the installation was successful.
The OptiSnap Connector will be demonstrated at the Cable-Tec Expo this week in Philadelphia.
