* SMC widens ADSL2+ router line
SMC Networks debuted three new members of its Barricade family of ADSL2+ modem routers. All combine an ADSL2/2+ modem router, a one-Ethernet/one USB port or a 4-port 10/100 LAN switch, and an SPI Firewall with ample support for key service provisioning and end user requirements.
One has one Ethernet and one USB port; another has four Ethernet ports; and the third comes with four Ethernet ports and 802.11g wireless capability. Suggested prices for ISPs are, respectively, $59.99, $69.99 and $99.99.
* Yahoo! licenses Gemstar IPG patents
Yahoo! has licensed interactive program guide (IPG) technology from Gemstar-TV Guide International. Yahoo! plans to offer an IPG for its Yahoo! Go TV service. Other components of the agreement include various branding and promotional opportunities for TV Guide across the Yahoo! network.
* VoIP Inc. names new honcho
VoIP Inc. is replacing CEO Gary Post with Anthony J. Cataldo, who will also become the company’s chairman.
Post, who resigned, will remain on the board of directors. Cataldo previously held board positions with several medical technology companies.
