C7 Data Centers serves up Comcast Business services at new data center

July 31, 2014 By Mike Robuck

C7 Data Centers is offering Comcast Business Ethernet services as a connectivity option for customers at C7’s new colocation data center.

The new Granite Point II colocation data center is located in Bluffdale, Utah, which is one of four data centers in the metro Salt Lake City area that are connected to Comcast’s network. Combined, they feature 140,000 square feet of data center and colocation space.

For data center connectivity, Comcast Business offers a range of Ethernet options, including Ethernet Dedicated Internet, Ethernet Private Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line and Ethernet Network Services that provide Internet access, point-to-point, and point-to-multipoint connectivity at bandwidth that scales up to 10 Gbps.

Based on previous experience working with Comcast Business at other data centers, C7 worked with the Comcast Business to extend its fiber network directly into C7’s new facility, giving customers direct access to Comcast’s network and suite of  Ethernet services.

“Extending our fiber network to C7’s new Granite Point II and its other data centers allows us to offer C7’s customers additional flexibility as they make IT decisions that affect the very core of their business operations,” said Paul Merritt, director for Comcast Business. “By adding another data center to our network, it also gives our Ethernet customers in Utah and around the U.S. another option for cloud and hosting services and remote back-up.”

C7 said Granite Point II was its most advanced Tier III data center to date and was one of the most efficient data centers in the country with a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) rating of 1.2. The 95,000-square-foot facility addresses customer business needs by providing a geographic location with low risk of natural disasters and a facility with high-bandwidth connectivity options, state-of-the-art power and cooling systems, and ease of scalability.

C7 Data Centers serve local, national and international clients with managed IT, cloud, disaster recovery, remote storage and colocation services.

“Our Granite Point II facility truly is the result of our commitment to being aware of our customers’ needs and providing the data center services they need to meet their business goals,” said Wes Swenson, CEO of C7 Data Centers. “Customer experience is very important to how we run our business and partnering with Comcast Business gives our customers a huge access network footprint and wide Ethernet service availability with rapid installation for connecting to their IT services at our facilities.”

June 2022 Special Edition: Test & Measurement Handbook

A frequency you can count on There are few constants in life, but what few there are might include death, taxes, and a U.S. grid frequency that doesn’t vary by more than ±0.5 Hz. However, the certainty of the grid frequency is coming into question, thanks to the rising percentage of renewable energy sources that…
