Interactive TV and middleware vendor Alticast has tapped cable industry veteran John Carlucci as its new chief technology officer for the Americas.
Prior to joining Alticast, Carlucci was most recently CTO for Clearleap. His 20-year cable career includes stops at Time Warner Cable, where he was chief network architect and senior director of engineering, and PolyCipher, where he was vice president of engineering. Carlucci also worked for BigBand Networks, Harmonic and Sony.
“John has been a leader and visionary in the cable TV industry, from pioneering OCAP to IP and cloud technology,” said Alticast CEO David Housman. “We believe John’s experience, along with his understanding of our customers needs, will assist Alticast in creating the next generation of products and technologies for the industry.”
Alticast, which is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, with offices in Denver, Germany, Taiwan and China, has deployed a variety of digital TV products including user interfaces, iTV server systems, OCAP, set-top boxes and hybrid middleware.
The company has also deployed a host of complementary products around broadcaster and network operators’ needs for better analytics and the new multi-screen environments, as well as social networking and interactive advertising across cable, satellite, IPTV and terrestrial networks.
With the advent of TV Everywhere and over-the-top services, Alticast is adding new products for browsers, Android devices and HTML5.
