CableLabs today announced it will hold its first Inform[ed]: Wireless conference in New York City in April 2016.
Inform[ed]: Wireless will focus on “technologies, strategies, and policies that will shape next-generation wireless services in a new era of fixed and mobile network convergence.” Specifically, the agenda will address fixed-mobile, unlicensed LTE technologies, small cells, 5G and Wi-Fi.
Speakers include Phil McKinney, CEO of CableLabs; Jeremy Bye, VP of carrier and wholesale at Cox Business; and Rob Howald, VP of network architecture at Comcast.
“As wireless technology continues to advance, it’s imperative that the wireless industry fully explores both the opportunities and challenges of developing innovative wireless technologies that benefit consumers and drive technology forward,” McKinney said in a statement. “CableLabs is continually expanding its testing and research in a variety of areas in the wireless space. This conference gives us the opportunity to bring together the industry’s top minds to tackle the most prominent issues in wireless in new and inventive ways.”
CableLabs’ plans for a wireless conference emerge as the non-profit continues to find itself in the middle of a debate over LTE in unlicensed spectrum bands that is pitting wireless operators and vendors against the cable and Wi-Fi industry.
The show will be held at the InterContinental Hotel New York Times Square on April 13.
Registration is now open at the conference website.
