Charter Communications said its Spectrum Business unit has deployed its DOCSIS 3.1-powered internet services to small and medium-sized businesses in New York City, capable of delivering downstream speeds of up to 1 Gbps.
The service, Spectrum Business Internet Gig, starts at $249.99 per month for new customers and includes a modem, customer WiFi for businesses with public seating or lobbies, custom domain and email addresses, cloud backup and desktop security software.
“Spectrum Business’ state-of-the-art, fiber-rich network allows us to deploy dramatically faster business broadband speeds, including gigabit connections, broadly and rapidly,” said Tom Rutledge, Charter CEO, in a statement. “As business demand for bandwidth and capacity continues to grow, our world-class network is best-positioned to meet these demands, today and into the future.”
The service is now available to small and medium-sized business customers in more than 30 markets, accounting for more than 50 percent of Spectrum Business’ service footprint. Charter said the gigabit service will be available across “virtually all” of Spectrum’s 41-state service area by the end of the year.
