According to a report by Strategy Analytics, Chromecast won the streaming device sales wars in the third quarter this year, selling around 3.2 million units. That number is good for 35 percent of the streaming device market.
Streaming devices sold 9.2 million units in third quarter. Apple TV accounted for 20 percent of those sales, while Amazon Fire and Roku accounted for 16 percent of the market each.
All connected TV devices—which includes smart TVs, Blu-ray players, game consoles, and streaming devices—sold 53 million units in the quarter, which is on target for yearly sales of 221 million units. That’s a 17-percent increase in sales from 2014.
