Cox Arizona has increased the speeds of its high-speed Internet service. The increase is a free upgrade for subscribers, the company said, and has already been implemented.
Customers who choose Cox’s Preferred and Premier packages will see download speeds increase as much as one-third and uploads double thanks to the addition of PowerBoost for uploads. PowerBoost for uploads is an extension of the PowerBoost technology that Cox rolled out last year to increase the speed of downloads for Preferred and Premier customers.
Preferred customers can experience speeds of up to 12 Mbps down/1 Mbps up and Premier customers can go up to 20 Mbps down/2 Mbps up, the company said.
“We recognize that customers are using the Internet for more intense purposes – online gaming, downloading music, and sharing photos and videos,” said Ivan Johnson, VP of community relations and TeleVideo. “The faster speeds we have rolled out enhance the value that high-speed customers get from Cox, while ensuring that they spend more time doing what they want online and less time waiting for a slow DSL or dial-up connection.”
Cox serves nearly 3 million residential and business product subscribers in. In the metro Phoenix area, Cox serves approximately 2.5 million product subscribers. Cox’s 18,000-mile hybrid fiber/coaxial (HFC) cable network throughout Phoenix and southern Arizona provides homes and businesses with digital television, high-speed Internet, home networking, high-definition television (HDTV) and digital telephone service over its own nationwide IP network.
