Cox Communications announced that Allen Roberts was appointed to the position of vice president of operations for its Cox Virginia division.
In his new role, Roberts will oversea Cox’s hybrid fiber network and commercial services in Roanoke, Hampton Road and northern Virginia.
“Allen has been with Cox since 2004,” Gary McCollum, senior vice president and general manager of Cox Virginia, said. “Most recently, he served as vice president of Cox Business in Oklahoma. In his former role, he was instrumental in leading Cox’s commercial services division to new levels of revenue and customer growth. Allen has a wealth of strategic telecommunications and technology experience, encompassing more than 25 years in both start-up and Fortune 500 environments. We are delighted to have him join our Virginia team.”
As vice president of operations, Roberts oversees all network engineering, maintenance and repair functions. He also manages technical network support activities.
On the commercial services side of his job, Roberts oversees statewide strategic planning for Cox Business. McCollum notes, “Cox Business is a very important growth engine for the company.”
Prior to Cox, Roberts worked for, among other companies, AT&T and XO Communications.
Cox also announced today that Dianne Earley was appointed as vice president of Cox Media Virginia, Cox’s full-service advertising division.
“Dianne is a dynamic and strategic thinker who understands new media, as well as traditional media environments,” McCollum said. “As one of the largest advertising sales operations within the company, Cox Media can provide advertising solutions that reach audiences across the commonwealth.”
Cox said that Earley has more than 25 years of media sales and sales management experience in radio, broadcast and cable television. She joined Cox Media in 2004 as corporate vice president of national sales in Atlanta. In 2006, she was picked to lead Cox Media operations in Northern Virginia (Fairfax and Fredericksburg).
Earley previously held positions with ABC Radio, Jefferson-Pilot Broadcasting, Gannett Broadcasting and Comcast Cable.
Cox serves approximately 615,000 customers in Virginia and has more than 3,000 employees.
