Streaming sports service DAZN is partnering with Limelight Networks in an effort to provide “broadcast-like” quality to its live game streaming.
DAZN officials said they turned to Limelight when projections showed the service would run out of the server capacity needed to broadcast soccer games under its contract with Japan’s J. League.
The company is already using Limelight to help deliver thousands of events per year on more than 100 channels, and officials said its content delivery network ensures also ensures DAZN’s ability to handle more viewers and expand internationally.
“No one wants an important play in a game interrupted by buffering,” said Robin Oakley, who heads distribution technology at DAZN owner Perform Group. “Working with Limelight, we’re able to create and deliver a broadcast-like experience low on buffering, low on start-up times and high on picture quality.”
