EastLink’s whole-home DVR service hit the ground running recently with the first deployment in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
EastLink, which serves business and residential customers in Atlantic Canada, Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, Manitoba and British Columbia, said the multi-room DVR service would be launched in additional markets across Canada over the coming months.
The service allows viewers to watch DVR recordings on up four TVs in a home. Users can also pause, rewind, fast forward and resume programs on the four connected TVs.
“Multi-room DVR is the next generation of video entertainment service and the most frequently requested enhancement by our customers. It has changed the way consumers watch television,” said EastLink president and chief operating officer Deborah Shaffner. “We continue to invest heavily in capital improvements and equipment to provide the high quality products and services our customers have come to expect.”
EastLink is using Motorola’s DCX 3400m DVR as the primary receiver, which connects to up to three additional networked Motorola DCX 700m HD-ready receivers. The cost of the service is $5 per month, plus $5.95 for each additional DVR receiver.
