Envivio has taken the wraps off of a new “service orientated” monitoring feature that was designed to help cable, IPTV, satellite and over-the-top (OTT) service providers troubleshoot their networks more efficiently.
The new feature, which is available through a separate purchase, is part of Envivio’s Guru headend monitoring platform. Envivio said the new option uses a service-driven, graphical, drill down process for monitoring that sifts issues based on the impact on services instead of by equipment.
Service issues that impact premium channels or subscribers’ quality of experience could be prioritized and flagged first. It also features new graphics to make the monitoring service easier to use, and all channels, services, and equipment with current alarm status are displayed by importance in order to speed up the troubleshooting process.
“We’ve created this disruptive ‘service-oriented’ approach to head-end monitoring based on operator input and an exhaustive analysis of potential scenarios, issues and best practice mechanisms at every level,” said Boris Felts, Envivio’s vice president, products and solutions. “Our solution is the headend ‘Guru’, created by operators for operators, so they have comfort knowing their headends are being monitored 24/7/365, and issues are being prioritized by revenue and service impact.”
In its third quarter earnings report earlier this month, Envivio had a drop in its revenue and reported a larger net loss compared to the same quarter a year ago.
