Exhibition covers entire photovoltaics value chain from materials to power generation systems
TOKYO, Japan — October 23, 2012 — PVJapan 2012, the leading photovoltaic exhibition in Japan, will take place at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on December 5-7. With Japan’s photovoltaic power generation industry receiving unprecedented attention at home and abroad since the implementation of the new Feed-in Tariff system, PVJapan offers a comprehensive event that encompasses the entire photovoltaics value chain. SEMI and the Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) also announced today an outstanding lineup of keynote speakers for the PVJapan Executive Forum including: Hiroshi Morimoto, Sharp Corporation; Koichi Kawana, JGC Corporation; and Eicke R. Weber, Fraunhofer-Institute for Solar Energy Systems. From the PV conference sessions to the exhibition and pavilion programs, the event is an excellent opportunity to learn and explore the latest technology and network with key players in the industry. Registration is now open for both the exhibition and programs on the PVJapan 2012 website at www.pvjapan.org.
“Implementation of the Feed-in Tariff system on July 1, 2012 has led to a booming photovoltaic power generation business in Japan. Traditionally, power generation for residential systems accounted for more than 80 percent of total systems. However, since July we have observed a significant increase in non-residential use, ranging from tens of kilowatts to the megawatt class,” said Hisao Kayaoka, secretary general of JPEA. “Against the backdrop of these circumstances, exhibitors at PVJapan 2012 are well prepared to work with international buying teams that want to take advantage of these real business opportunities.”
The PVJapan conference will provide an international forum for PV manufacturers, equipment and materials suppliers, project planners and industry. Fifteen sessions focus on market trends, business opportunities in developing countries and the solar power generation business, as well as technology-focused sessions on thin-film, next generation, and crystalline silicon solar cells; materials and reliability; and a SEMI PV Standards Introductory Workshop. Downstream sessions include Installation/ Construction-related Technology; Electricity System Technology; Certification for Installers and Guidelines for PV Systems; Planning and Design of Non-Residential Grid-Connected PV Systems; Application for Residential PV System Subsidies; Procedures of Registration and Approval for PV Systems and Certification System for Qualified Installers.
“PVJapan is the best event for industry stakeholders to gain knowledge of Japan’s renewable energy industry, including solar energy. The depth of technical, business, R&D and industry content at PVJapan sessions is what makes this event invaluable,” said Yoichi Nakagawa, president of SEMI Japan.
In addition to the sessions, leading-edge photovoltaics manufacturing technologies will be exhibited on the PVJapan show floor in five zones: Solar Cells/Modules, Related Products and Applications; System, BOS and Smart Network; Manufacturing Equipment, Components, Materials, Facilities and Inspection/Measurement Tools; Construction Services; and Related Products, Technologies, Services and Local Governments.
In addition, the show floor will feature focused pavilions and stages:
- New Material Solar Power Plaza: Showcases the latest developments in new materials such as organic thin films and dye-sensitized solar cells.
- Mega Solar Power Plant Plaza: Showcases the numerous opportunities for PV power plants that the new FIT has generated.
- The Exhibitors Stage on the exhibition show floor will provide attendees with free technical presentations on each day of the show. Presenting companies include Yaskawa Electric Corporation, TUV Rheinland Japan, Conergy Asia & ME PTE, RTS Corporation, Chemitox, Looop, and SunPower.
With the support of the JSPS 175th Committee on Innovative Photovoltaic Power Generating Systems and The Japan Society of Applied Materials, the Academic Gallery area will allow academia/research institutions engaged in solar research to provide the latest information on research and development and connect with industry partners. Participants include: Hokkaido University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Osaka University and Nagoya University (partial list).
Registration is now open for both the exhibition and programs on the PVJapan 2012 website at www.pvjapan.org. PVJapan is co-located with SEMICON Japan (www.semiconjapan.org), which also takes place December 5-7, at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
