Today, Time Warner Cable launched NASA Public on its digital choice tier in the company’s southwest Ohio region.
The channel showcases the events and activities of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and features launches, missions and landings of the space shuttles, including the final mission of the space shuttle Endeavour, which is scheduled for April 29.
In addition to space shuttle and rocket missions, NASA Public, also known as NASA TV, also features coverage of NASA documentaries, archival footage and other special programming.
Time Warner Cable southwest Ohio regional vice president of operations Shannon Mullen said the addition of NASA TV complements the company’s community outreach initiative, Connect a Million Minds.
“We have several channels that inform and entertain, but perhaps no service inspirers the imagination like NASA TV and its passion for exploring the outer reaches of space,” said Mullen. “This channel shows youth how the studies of math, science, technology and engineering can lead to rewarding and exciting careers, which is the goal of Connect a Million Minds.”
Today’s debut of NASA TV in southwest Ohio coincided with the 50th anniversary of the first manned space flight by Yuri Gagarin and the 30th anniversary of the first space shuttle launch.
