Oceanic Time Warner, the Hawaii Division of Time Warner Cable, has purchased Optinel Systems’ (https://www.optinel.com) PLEXiS MFX transport platform, which will be deployed on the island of Oahu. The deployment is the fifth large-scale commercial installation of the PLEXiS solution, with several more currently underway, according to Optinel.
The PLEXiS system can support just a few, to more than 80,000 video streams per fiber over distances of greater than 500 km. Key to the deployment is Optinel’s optical Gigabit Ethernet solution. Available in multiple transceiver, transmitter and receiver formats, the suite of products provides 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps or 10 Gbps of uni- or bi-directional capacity per wavelength.
