Optimum Lightpath buys into N.J.

July 17, 2008 By Brian Santo

Cablevision’s Optimum Lightpath will pick up 440 route-miles of dark fiber in New Jersey with the acquisition of 4Connections, a privately held, 7-year-old company that is registered as a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC).

Neither company specified the purchase price. The move strengthens Cablevision’s thrust into a geographical area that is the historical heart of Verizon’s territory.

4Connections has a similar clientele to Optimum Lightpath’s. The company has had some success providing backup connections for New York-area financial institutions and has at least one large medical facility as a customer.

“The acquisition of 4Connections will significantly expand our network reach and our ability to offer highly competitive, advanced Ethernet-based data, Internet, voice and managed service products to more New Jersey businesses,” said Dave Pistacchio, EVP and GM of Optimum Lightpath.
