Cablevision’s Optimum Lightpath announced today that its fiber-based service has connected more than 5,000 buildings in the New York metropolitan area that it serves.
To better serve mid-market and enterprise businesses in the area, Optimum Lightpath has been building out its fiber-optic network, which now spans 4,700 route miles.
“With one of the largest contiguous metro fiber footprints in the United States, Optimum Lightpath is able to offer dense coverage throughout the greater New York City metro,” said Brian Washburn, research director of network services at Current Analysis. “Optimum Lightpath provides simple and consistent pricing and develops products and services that appeal to customers that operate within its region.”
In addition to businesses, Optimum Lightpath’s customer base includes schools, medical centers and government entities.
“Optimum Lightpath’s dense and expansive network is the foundation that allows us to deliver the customer service, reliability and innovative product set that has defined us in the New York metro area,” said Optimum Lightpath President Dave Pistacchio. “As we look ahead to 2012, Optimum Lightpath will continue to leverage its network to serve customers in new ways, help them overcome challenges and pursue new opportunities.”
In its third-quarter earnings report, the Optimum Lightpath commercial services division posted a 6 percent year-over-year revenue growth, for a total of $77.5 million.
