SID Display Week is the industry’s annual celebration of all things optoelectronics, and this year the wagon train rolled in to sunny San Diego. (I was suffering. Seriously.) Here’s a handful of highlights from SID 2014.
The world’s first 15.6 inch laptop (an Asus Zenbook NX500) with 3M’s QDEF quantum dot technology.
The world’s first quantum dot TV, a Sony display that utilizes QD Vision’s Color IQ tech.
Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL) utilizing E-Ink technology. Enables dynamic merchandizing, which could allow brick-and-mortars to stay competitive with e-commerce. The E-Ink technology allows for minimum power consumption, up to about five years.
Digital signage at the E-Ink booth.
OK, so this isn’t technically from the show. My view of downtown San Diego from the roof of my hotel.
