CED, the premier monthly magazine of broadband
communications, welcomes press releases on topics of interest
to broadband communications industry professionals. Editorial focus
is on the technological developments that are shaping existing broadband
networks and the communications networks of the 21st century. CED's
target audience is corporate and system management and engineering/technical
management at cable TV, telecommunications and wireless operations,
as well as data professionals and interactive/ multimedia providers
and developers.
Regular editorial focus is aimed at broadband system
design, network integration of fiber optics, digital technology,
telephony, interactivity, data applications and new products, regulatory
issues and monthly commentary. Special publications include CED's
InDepth supplement, Special Industry Reports, CED's
Broadband Communications Buyers' Guide & Databook (annual)
and Broadband International (monthly).
CED also welcomes timely press releases for
its online daily news report, CEDbroadband direct. Located
on CED's Web site at www.cedmagazine.com, CEDbroadband direct is live each day by 2 p.m. ET, with the
latest in news, issues, companies, financials, people, products
and events affecting the broadband technology industry. It's
a timely, brief supplement to CED magazine.
Press Release Basics
Who qualifies:
All releases will be evaluated for editorial fit with the information
needs of the magazine's or daily's subscribers and newsworthiness. CEDaily will also gauge according to timeliness. CED
receives great quantities of releases each day and reads all pertinent
ones. Aside from the preceding criteria, CED uses releases
on a space-available basis. Advertising is not a consideration in
selecting press releases for publication.
How to submit a release:
Despite popular premises that it's best to call editors about
releases, the easiest and most efficient way to inform CED
about your news is:
To send a hard copy (only
one, please) to Dana Mendell, executive editor,
(303) 470-4890 FAX or e-mail to: dana.mendell@advantagemedia.com.
Faxing to various staff wastes resources and can actually
delay
processing of the release by increasing coordination tasks.
CED encourages black-and-white or color photos
with press releases, especially regarding people and products intended
for the print version. Unless specifically requested by CED,
please do not e-mail images. CEDbroadband directpresently
does not use images.
Because photos go through a lengthy scanning process
for reproduction, please ship releases accompanied by photos for
receipt no later than the first of the month prior to the publication
month. CED's editors will evaluate your release and call
if additional information or photos are needed
Editorial deadlines: CED magazine's latest deadline for an issue date is the
first of the month which precedes the publication date. If yours
is late-breaking news, please contact Dana Mendell, (303)
470-4839, dana.mendell@advantagemedia.com,
in advance to ensure appropriate attention to your news and to ease
space planning if needed.
CEDbroadband direct prefers press releases
by 10 a.m. Denver time to consider it for that day's Daily.
If your news is breaking or may fit that day, and applies to CEDaily's
readers, please call CED Editor Jeff Baumgartner
at 303-470-4838 or e-mail jeff.baumgartner@advantagemedia.com.
Please limit other calls to post-noon Denver time.
Publication restrictions
Due to space and time considerations, neither CED magazine
nor CEDbroadband direct can guarantee publication of a release
or photo in a specific issue or on a specific day. Every effort
is made to ensure timely treatment of the information received.
Other guidelines: CED magazine is primarily staff-written but does welcome
submitted articles on a limited basis. (Please see Writers'
Guidelines.) If you would like to discuss a story idea for submission
or send a letter to the editor (300 words max), contact Jeff Baumgartner,
editor, at (303) 470-4838, jeff.baumgartner@advantagemedia.com or (303) 470-4890 FAX.
Because of time and other constraints,
CEDbroadband direct uses only staff-written material.
