The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) announced that Bill Schankel has been promoted to Vice President, Marketing, with responsibility for driving an expanded agenda of marketing, communications and business development activities for the industry’s leading provider of technology training, certification and information.
Schankel, a member of the SCTE marketing team since 2007, oversees the development and execution of strategies that are increasing visibility, industry awareness and sponsorship revenue for SCTE across multiple industry sectors. As senior director, marketing since 2011, he has implemented new approaches designed to boost the use of the Internet, social media and analytics, as well as strategies to foster increased diversity and inclusion within SCTE’s member ranks. In addition, Schankel has worked closely with the SCTE Foundation on fundraising, marketing and other activities.
“As SCTE continues to expand in mission and in membership, it’s essential that we build value within two constituencies: the operators, vendors and members who are the backbone of the industry today, as well as the technology leaders who can help the industry grow in the future,” said Mark Dzuban, president and CEO of SCTE. “With his leadership, expertise and innovative spirit, Bill Schankel is aligning SCTE’s marketing and business development efforts with the current and future needs of the industry.”
Since joining SCTE as director, member marketing, planning and publications in 2007, Schankel has created and implemented strategies that have resulted in record attendance in virtual training courses; new Web-based tools for SCTE Chapters; and greater understanding of the value of SCTE membership to individuals in the cable telecommunications workforce. Prior to joining SCTE, Schankel was director, membership services for the New Jersey State Bar Association.
