The programming deals for Verizon ‘s forthcoming FiOS TV service are starting to come fast and furious.
This time, in a deal with Showtime Networks, Verizon has secured carriage of 11 Showtime channels, including The Movie Channel and Flix, plus access to high-definition feeds and video-on-demand fare (150 hours, 25 percent of which is to be refreshed weekly).
Financial terms were not disclosed. Verizon, which plans to put fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) technology in front of 3 million homes by year-end, will launch its fiber-fed FiOS TV service later this year.
Verizon has recently announced similar carriage deals with Starz Entertainment Group and A&E Networks, among others.
