Sidera Networks announced this week that it has expanded its network into a corporate center in Virginia.
Sidera’s fiber-optic offerings now reach into DuPont Fabros Technology’s (DFT) Ashburn Corporate Campus located in northern Virginia.
“All of our Ashburn Corporate Campus data center tenants will have access to a high-quality, customer-focused service provider,” said Hossein Fateh, president and chief executive officer of DuPont Fabros Technology. “Bringing Sidera’s network into our data centers provides numerous advantages to both existing and potential customers and validates our commitment to offering the most efficient and robust facilities in the market.”
Earlier this summer, Sidera announced the extension of its network to DFT’s NJ1 data center located in Piscataway, N.J. Tenants within this facility have access to low-latency connectivity to key financial exchanges and carrier hotels throughout the New York metropolitan area.
“We are pleased to continue our strong working relationship with DFT,” said Mike Sicoli, CEO of Sidera Networks. “Customers within DFT’s campus will now have a first-class network service provider to go with their first-class data centers.”
Earlier this month, Sidera wrapped up a colocation expansion project at its facility in Philadelphia, which is also where Comcast has its headquarters. In response to growing demand, Sidera said it acquired additional square footage to accommodate up to 100 new racks.
The expansion brought Sidera’s colocation footprint to nearly 40,000-square-feet in the Philadelphia market. In Philadelphia, Sidera offers carrier-neutral connectivity to more than 25 service providers.
The facility features highly secure racks, as well as custom cage solutions supported by dual-power feeds, pre-action fire systems, dual-service UPS and AC/DC generator backup. Customers gain access to leading service providers, including Sidera’s network solutions that include dedicated Internet access (DIA), Ethernet, SONET, wavelength and dark fiber services.
“401 North Broad is the premier carrier hotel in Philadelphia offering a tremendous opportunity for carriers, IT companies and enterprise businesses that require highly secure colocation combined with access to numerous network providers for diversity and reliability,” said Kevin Mulqueen, vice president of colocation for Sidera Networks.
At the start of this month, Sidera announced it had upgraded Philadelphia-based La Salle University’s campus network.
Sidera was formerly known as RCN Metro Optical Networks until Abry Partners bought RCN and subsequently renamed and split off as Sidera.
Earlier this year, Sidera Network was reportedly up for sale.
