The Dakota Carrier Network (DCN), will be using Skitter TV’s digital video services platform to deliver next generation TV services on behalf of its service provider customers.
DCN is a statewide fiber network that serves multiple broadband service providers in North Dakota, Using Skitter TV, it will help its clients deliver a mix of television programming to their subscribers.
Skitter TV’s platform allows for the integration of local broadcast channels with a growing number of cable programming channels and various web-based sources of video.
Skitter TV can deliver services to a variety of consumer premise equipment, including Roku boxes and similar retail devices.
“Our broadband service provider members have been seeking a way to offer their subscribers an alternative to increasingly expensive cable TV service,” said Seth Arndorfer, CEO of DCN. “With Skitter TV, our members will be in a position to offer lower cost TV packages that includes content that’s important to their customers, while improving their margins and profitability for video.”
DCN was created in 1996 by 15 independent rural telecommunications companies representing 85 percent of all the telephone exchanges in North Dakota and over 90 percent of the state’s total surface area. DCN member companies currently serve over 164,000 customers in 244 communities. DCN and its member companies have over 40,000 miles of fiber optic cable installed across North Dakota.
