StorFirst EAS Technology Provides Highly Scalable, Instant Access to Cloud Infrastructure

December 8, 2009 By The Associated Press

http://www.seven10storage.com () —

Seven10 Storage Software, a leader in enterprise archiving and disaster recovery (http://www.seven10storage.com/storfirst_altus.php) technology, today announced that its StorFirst EAS file system software is fully integrated with EMC@ Atmos@ through the EMC Velocity Atmos Partner Program. Integration of StorFirst EAS software with EMC Atmos means that customers can fully utilize the cloud as an enterprise archiving (http://www.seven10storage.com/) storage tier or as a single point of storage for their information.

Seven10’s Windows-based StorFirst EAS software allows easy and immediate access to the cloud by providing a CIFS/NFS/Http integration layer into EMC Atmos, which is EMC’s multi-petabyte cloud infrastructure offering combining massive scalability with automated data placement to help efficiently deliver content and information services anywhere in the world. StorFirst EAS enables customers to incorporate Atmos cloud storage (http://www.seven10storage.com/storfirst_eas.php) for use with single or multiple applications simultaneously, without having to integrate into typical cloud-based APIs. Regardless of the EMC Atmos deployment method, either on-site or as an on-line service, users of the platform will benefit from the immediate accessibility provided by the StorFirst EAS file system interface.

Seven10 has engineered StorFirst EAS to allow flexible expansion and centralized management of the enterprise archive. With direct and native support for a wide range of storage devices and platforms, StorFirst EAS supports storage tiering across multiple EMC cloud infrastructure solutions and services, and EMC storage offerings including EMC Atmos, EMC Atmos Online(TM), EMC Centera@, EMC CLARiiON@ and EMC Symmetrix@. StorFirst EAS is the most compelling and economically viable access layer for customers who wish to easily store data on the EMC Atmos cloud storage infrastructure offering.

“The EMC Velocity Atmos Partner Program demonstrates our commitment to deliver innovative storage solutions that address the growing needs of our partners seeking to leverage cloud infrastructure solutions. EMC believes there is an opportunity for cloud storage to deliver financial and functional benefits to both our partners and the customers they serve,” said Mike Feinberg, senior vice president of the EMC Cloud Infrastructure Group. “By making our cloud infrastructure accessible, we enable our partners — such as Seven10 — to respond to customers’ fast-growing demand for cloud-based solutions.”

“Seven10’s collaboration with EMC is an important step in the evolution of supported platforms within StorFirst,” said Bobby Moulton, president of Seven10. “Our StorFirst EAS archive file system is developed in perfect harmony with EMC Atmos, providing customers the tools they need to fully utilize the cloud as an enterprise archiving storage tier or as a single point of storage for their information.”
