Suddenlink drops TiVo Premiere into 3 more Texas towns

February 11, 2011 By Mike Robuck

Suddenlink announced a second round of rollouts for its TiVo Premiere DVR service, with additional launches in Amarillo, Canyon and Tulia, Tex.

Suddenlink first announced it was going with TiVo’s interface and DVRs last year, followed by launches of the service in December in Midland, Floydada and Plainview, Tex.

The for cost TiVo Premiere is $17 a month in Amarillo, Canyon and Tulia, but a spokesman for Suddenlink said overall pricing could vary by market.

TiVo Premiere DVR

The TiVo service allows Suddenlink customers to watch on-demand movies and shows and access Internet content from sites such as YouTube.

Last month, Charter Communications announced it was pursuing its multi-room DVR strategy though an agreement with TiVo, while RCN has TiVo Premiere deployed in several of its markets. One of the advantages cable operators have with choosing TiVo is a quick time to market and integration with their video-on-demand systems.

Suddenlink, the nation’s seventh-largest cable operator, has 1.3 million residential customers and thousands of commercial customers primarily in Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia.
