Texas Instruments now has samples available of five new residential gateways (RGs) for ADSL and VDSL2 networks. The new members of the company’s UR8 line of RGs mix and match various features, including options for home networking.
UR8 models incorporate a new multimedia gateway processor, a programmable DSL PHY, a high-performance DSP-based voice sub-system and a rich set of local area network (LAN) interfaces. The UR8 architecture supports up to four voice channels, with different combinations of wireline and wireless.
Home networking options include Ethernet, WiFi and standards offered by the HomePlug Powerline Alliance, Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) and Home Phoneline Networking Alliance (HomePNA).
TI said the new gateways are interoperable with all leading digital subscriber line access multiplexers (DSLAMs) around the world.
