Time Warner Cable is close to rolling out streaming television to Android devices with the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system, possibly by the end of March.
“We are working on bringing streaming TV to Android devices with ICS,” he wrote. “Should be ready by end of March/Q1. That date is VERY loose, though.”
Time Warner Cable has been developing apps at a fast and furious pace ever since its iPad app was launched last year to deliver video via IP. Time Warner Cable launched an Android-based video app in November, but unlike the iPad version, it didn’t support live streaming.
On Tuesday, Time Warner Cable announced a beta trial for live streaming on PCs and Macs for its TWC TV app.
Yesterday, Simmermon posted a blog that Time Warner Cable’s My TWC app is now available on iOS devices after the company previously launched it on Android devices in December.
The My TWC app allows subscribers to manage their services remotely from the various devices. Once Time Warner Cable subscribers log in to the company’s “My Services” or TWC TV application, the My TWC app allows them to check a list of their services and subscriptions. While logged in, users can check their bill summary and amount due, as well as make payments via credit and debit cards or by electronic transfer.
The app is also integrated with Time Warner Cable’s phone service and lets users view incoming call logs, as well as use call forwarding to set home phone calls to be forwarded to any number, such as a user’s cell phone.
Time Warner Cable has also rolled out a Wi-Fi Finder app for iOS and Android devices that is currently available in its Los Angeles system, but it will eventually be rolled out across the rest of Time Warner Cable’s footprint.
