Time Warner Cable has hired former Ericsson executive Perry Watson as its new area vice president of operations for the company’s Kansas City/Nebraska operations.

In his new job, Watson will have Google’s new fiber service to contend with in the Kansas City area.

Watson replaced Scott Miller in the Kansas City/Nebraska operations post. Miller had held the position since 2010 but is now general manager at Time Warner Cable’s Lincoln system.

Watson joined Time Warner Cable with more than 25 years of experience in network operations, marketing, sales and customer management. He spent the last three years as the vice president of network service assurance with Ericsson, where he managed a diverse team of engineers, system and application administrators, and application developers. Additionally, Watson was responsible for multiple nationwide networks and helped consolidate hundreds of knowledge management websites.

Prior to joining Ericsson, he spent 10 years working for Sprint in a variety of operations and management positions, including a special leadership assignment to the president of the CDMA business unit.
