Tribune Media and Fox Broadcasting have renewed affiliation agreements for eight stations, as chances for Tribune’s proposed merger with Sinclair Broadcast Group continue to deteriorate.
The stations included in the Fox deal are KCPQ in Seattle, KDVR in Denver, WJW in Cleveland, KTVI in St. Louis, WDAF in Kansas City, KSTU in Salt Lake City, WITI in Milwaukee and WGHP in Greensboro, N.C.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The FCC, meanwhile, decided in July to send Sinclair and Tribune’s $3.9 billion deal to a judge for administrative law review over planned divestitures the commission described as potentially “sham” transactions. The FCC said it could not find the deal in the best interest of the public, and Chairman Ajit Pai expressed “serious concerns.” What is likely to be a lengthy administrative process could kill the deal, which was first announced more than a year ago and has been revised multiple times in an effort to gain regulatory approval.
