Time Warner Cable’s Jim Ludington has got next. Ludington, executive vice president of network national operations for TWC, will serve as Program Committee chairman for next year’s SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Orlando.
Ludington, a 30-year cable veteran, follows Terry Cordova, senior vice president and CTO of Suddenlink Communications, at the helm of the Cable-Tec Expo Program Committee. As a member of this year’s Program Committee, Ludington helped drive the expansion of Expo’s educational content.
“Over the past year, Terry Cordova and Jim Ludington have worked together with the rest of the Program Committee to dramatically increase the scope of learning and new technology being showcased at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo,” said Mark Dzuban, president and CEO of the SCTE. “We’re grateful that Jim has accepted the challenge of continuing to enhance Cable-Tec Expo’s unique role as the place where problems and problem-solvers meet.”
“Jim Ludington’s input and support were vital in our ability to build the depth of workshop presentations and exhibit floor innovation that characterize Cable-Tec Expo this year,” Cordova said. “I look forward to working with him in the coming year as we continue to increase the value of Expo as the industry’s premier engineering and operations event.”
Ludington joined Time Warner Cable in 1982 and later served as project director for the Quantum project in New York and as vice president of technology for the full-service network in Orlando.
He left Time Warner Cable in 1996 to found two cable technology businesses before returning to the company as executive vice president of national network operations and engineering for the Advanced Technology Group in 2003.
Since his return, his group has been responsible for the deployment of virtually all customer-facing technology, including VOD, digital phone, MDN/ODN, switched digital video, commercial voice, cell tower backhaul and the build-out of Time Warner Cable’s national fiber backbone.
He is also responsible for the ongoing deployment and engineering support of feature enhancements, five of which have earned Emmy Awards for technology and engineering. Ludington is a member of the inaugural class of the SCTE-Tuck Executive Leadership Program at Dartmouth College, as well.

Next year’s Cable-Tec Expo is scheduled for Oct. 17-19 in Orlando.
