Ultralife Corp. announced the introduction of the GenSet Eliminator™, a patent pending storage and power system designed to reduce fuel consumption and maintenance costs by 25% – 30% for defense and commercial applications.
The GenSet Eliminator provides energy storage capabilities to generators and renewable energy sources, thereby promoting optimum efficiencies through the continuous charging and discharging of Ultralife’s Lithium Ion batteries incorporated into the system. The system is mobile, flexible and scalable from 10 to 50 kWh of battery storage and will significantly reduce fuel consumption while enabling the primary generator or power source to be operated at 85% – 95% of its rated load capacity. The switch between the primary energy source and battery power is seamless to the user and allows for silent and clean (zero emission) operation when the batteries are in use. The Lithium Ion batteries allow for continuous monitoring, reduce battery weight by a factor of four to five if comparable lead acid batteries are used, and allow much higher operating temperatures of up to 140° F (60°C) without degradation. The resulting benefits of lower fuel consumption, extended life expectancy and less maintenance to the primary power source, and silent watch capability make the GenSet Eliminator well suited for military bases that generate their own electricity. An added benefit of fuel optimization may be a reduction in casualties associated with in-theater military fuel convoys which are frequent targets of enemy attack. Furthermore, the GenSet Eliminator may benefit disaster relief by simplifying logistics and improving sustainability when accessibility is cut off.
