Verizon continues to get its programming stars aligned for FiOS TV, the telco’s forthcoming fiber-fed video service. The latest is a multi-year carriage deal with Starz Entertainment Group LLC (SEG).
The agreement gives Verizon access to east and west coast feeds of all 13 SEG movie channels, as well as SEG’s HDTV and video-on-demand services, when FiOS TV launches later this year. It marks the first deal with a premium video service provider for Verizon. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Verizon expects to offer Starz On Demand and Starz HDTV at no additional charge for Starz subs.
Verizon hopes to pass 3 million homes with fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) technology by year-end.
