In an homage to a marketing tactic used by premium networks for years, Microsoft Corp. and Verizon are offering a 72-hour preview of the Xbox Live Gold service.
“Gold,” designed for the new Xbox 360 gaming console, is a multi-player platform that uses high-speed broadband connections.
The free preview is set for March 31 through April 2. In addition to access, Verizon and Microsoft will also host a contest for Xbox Live games and other “content.”
Verizon has 5.1 million high-speed subs obtaining access via DSL or the telco’s fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) platform.
