Verizon tunes up interactive features in N.Y., Pa.

January 14, 2010 By Mike Robuck

Verizon has beefed up its interactive TV features for FiOS subscribers in western New York and south/central Pennsylvania.

New updates to FiOS TV’s Interactive Media Guide (IMG) include increased video-on-demand personalization, purchasing power via remote control for Showtime (in New York) and ESPN programming, gaming widgets and new navigational shortcuts.

The new features were previously deployed in Texas, California, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and downstate New York and will be expanded to all other FiOS TV markets over the next few months.

In western New York, Verizon FiOS TV is available in parts of Amherst, Blasdell, Hamburg (the town and village), Kenmore, Lackawanna, Orchard Park (the town and village), Tonawanda and West Seneca.

Verizon didn’t provide a list of communities for its Pennsylvania region.
