Verizon and two unions that represent 65,000 workers continued to negotiate after contracts expired yesterday.
Verizon is negotiating new contracts with the Communications Workers of America, which represents about 50,000 workers, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. According to the Associated Press, Verizon is bargaining with the two unions over health care coverage for employees and retirees, and wages and union representation for new job areas.
“Verizon and the unions representing Verizon Telecom employees in the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states continue to negotiate toward a fair agreement,” Verizon said in a statement. “We continue to negotiate in good faith to achieve new contracts for our employees.”
